I had a 8v, the 130bhp model in a mk2 Astra.
Had a cam upgrade, derestricted/drilled airbox with K&N, and a full janspeed system including 4 branch.
Was suprisingly quick car mate, they are good engines.
Would'nt have one over my current engine.
And off topic, yes you can have turbo with carb/s.
People used to twin turbo the Rover V8's and use the SU carbs, also there were plenty of Turbo'd bikes about in the 80's with carbs
Including my mates which pushed 348bhp
