need help guys asap

i blew the ecotec up lol, water pump went head gasket, got quoted £500-700 to fix, so bought a 2.0 8v as they are stronger and more torque in them :)
If you're capable of swapping out an engine, you are capable of swapping the head on the Ecotec.

This 8v torque thing is a myth. The 8v has less torque.

What it does have is it's peak torque available at a lower RPM, but when you look at the 16v, it will probably have the same (or more) torque available at that RPM and it's still climbing.

a nice 2l 8v fully rebuilt with stronger internals and a nice supercharger would be nice, plus i thought it would be a bit cheaper on repairs if anything goes wrong

135bhp 2.0 16v ecotecs are standard, but if it has highlift cams might be a bit more, also id never swap a 8v to ecotec, they are ****, also ive got my ecu and loom out what a pain lol

well got the ecu out 2day guys bit a pain but worth the hassle .. so now old block out and new 1 in , wot good performance parts are good for the 8valve tuning wise guys ??power boost valve?superchip ? remapped ecu? kent cam?nitrous??

like i mentioned earlier, look for a new mini supercharger on ebay as you can run one of them on an 8v with a custom bracket to make it fit to the inlet bit

2l 8v were no quicker than my 1.6 16v ecotech no matter what they were in

well thats 1 engine out guys .. trusty piece a wood and some rope 10mil to be exact..lol i disconnected the mount from the gearbox. had loads a play turned the engine on a slight angel and job was a good 1.. 2moz round 2 lol cheers for advice troops!!

Remember a long long time ago in max power some guy fitting carbs an a turbo to a 2.0 8v in a nova was pretty quick as well..

Erm, really? Turbo AND carbs is that possible?
