thinking of buyin a 2litre 8valve engine out a cavalier. will my ecotec gearbox fit on it ? major headache this is . a can get the engine loom ecu everything to get it running into my car without gearbox obv. will there be work needed dne to my astra engine bay . i.e mounts etc cheers guys

1.8 and 2.0 gearbox will fit mate :)

also if fitting a 2.0l 8v into your astra then no bodywork or engine bay mods will be needed, the astra can handle the power of a 2.0l turbo so no worries there pal

thnx m8, wa worried as have 2.0 16v ecowarrior in atm lol, wed then ill get my 8v the use my 16v gearbox :D chuffed 4 the help guys!

isnt the 2.0 litre 8valve(130bhp) less powerful than the ecotec(135bhp).had a nova with 130 in it,what a laugh.it still said sting on the back!!

Why do you want to downgrade to the Cav engine exactly?

my thoughts exactly! and the ecotech is more modern so easily tuned/mapped etc

i'm running over 140 on just by having a decent induction kit

the ecotec have weak heads on them a got told .. wanted a 8valve as a got told there stronger than ecotecs.. and a was on a budget .. 1 day a will have a redtop lol

does any1 know where a could find diagrams on fitting a 2litre 8valve into my astra gsi etc loom ecu wiring ppl? engine ready to be fitted this week hopefully lol cheers guys !

As said above it will all fit fine mate and there good engines and quite powerful, same as wots in my astra :)

mate its easy.

the ecu live is a live wire that goes from the ecu to the battery but im sure it was only the c20lets and c20xes that had these seperate wires.

not sure if you will get a diagram for wiring, but theres only a few plugs that need plugging into engine, and surely you can figure them out as all the plugs are different for each thing and should have a rough idea where they go as they are all cut to go where they need to be

next in the footwell wire the engine loom in colour for colour to the car loom. . . . depending which car it came out of you may just be able to plug it all in without cutting the plugs off.

as for the rest of fitting the engine it will drop straight in :)

think he means where is the ecu if so its under the drivers kick pannel

FFS MAN!!!!! Dont **** about with a fooking lesser powerd, older, NO BETTER engine.
Its not worth the hassle.
If your Ecotec is running fine then leave it at that untill you can aford better.

i blew the ecotec up lol, water pump went head gasket, got quoted £500-700 to fix, so bought a 2.0 8v as they are stronger and more torque in them :)

I have 2, 2L 8v engines one in cabby running 130bhp and it pulls very good, and im working on a twin 48 carb'd one atm wonting loads of bhp, should be in for next years pod :D

There is 2 versions of the 2L 8v engine 130bhp and 115bhp as standerd the head injectors and ecu is diferant on them i think, Im thinking of selling mine coz i just bought an 2L ecotec with highlift cams and a 4 branch manifold anyone got any ideas what bhp it would be putting out? But i mite keep the 8 valver incase i blow up the eco.
