so pretty out numbered up there :(

very outnumbered lol, no i dont technically know him, only as bucksfizzturbo on dubgen forum lol, they are some very very nice dubs, seems i have a very high standard to follow lol

yes, some very nice cars, like i say i have a high standard to keep to lol so sorting this golf out is gonna be a long process

hi guys, not been on here in a LOOOOOOONG time but thought i would update my thread

after having a few headaches with the running problems its now sorted and running fine, had a few changes over the past few months, the wheels have gone from steels to the teardrops, back to steels and now on some 14" VW bottletops (had a thought of painting the faces red and putting a coca cola sticker on them lol), it now sits about 2" off the floor at the front, due to someone wanting to swap his coilovers for my dodgy shocks/spring kit, also went down the usual big bumper route but that didnt work out so back to retro small bumpers lol, tried to fit mk3 seatbacks to mk2 bases to find early and late spec mk2 seats are different

have been pondering about changing the engine again but unsure what i want to do as of yet (people keep telling me to use a 16V ABF engine with R1 bike carbs and totally ditch the fuel injection lol)

at some point i want to take the car off the road and sort out the bodywork, get rid of some dents, smooth the engine bay and hide some wiring (as much as i can), get a new subframe and mounts and front crossmember and polybush everything.

last thing i think to sort would be spacers to space the wheels out a bit and some stretched tyres, the dial in the stance

some pics of how it looks

fixing the carb manifold gasket as it was shagged

decided to go back to the clear rear lights as they seem to fit in with the silver paint

Fitted the rear coilovers and now the rear sits a bit higher and the car looks more levelled, just need to fit the fronts and lower it all round

And the bottletops just dying for a coca cola sticker to be put on the face lmao

Car is now off the road ready for some TLC, need to replace a few things ready for its MOT like break lines, drivers seat and indicator wiring and upgrade a few bits like poly bushes all round, gti brakes, disc conversion on the back, G60 top mounts all round and give the coil overs a good strip down and refurb, so the next month or ao it's gonna be a bit busy for me lol

Sent by my ****ty secetary as I'm a bit tied up ;)

Found some pics in vortex tonight that caught my eye of what I wouldn't mind doing to my golf, even the same paint job too lmao

Wouldn't know where to start but would look good lol

Every man and his dog are doing matt black now, loos gash imo especially when its dirty, and you have to be careful how you wash it, a nice retro 80's beige or something would look good :)

yeh after a lot of thought ive not got a clue what colour but i have seen a mk2 at the woerthersee tour that was nato green with cream trim, looked a bit gash but i had someone do a photoshop of what it would look like with black trim and i think im hooked on the idea lol, then i found this pic lmao of another mk2 at woerthersee last year

i do like this look and i can get hold of proper military nato green paint from a friend cheap and its thin enough to be used with a HPLV sprayer

a few people ive put the idea to like it and say do it and other say no dont lol, but with me not being the best painter and dont have the cash for a pro job im pretty much stuck for ideas lol

Finally got off my arse today and started to remove and strip down the rear coilovers, haven't got any pics of removing the first one and stripping down but will get that on the other side this afternoon, found out they are TAtechnix if that means anything lol

Got a pic of the side I haven't done yet showing the coilovers at lowest with helper spring still on

And this one is with the helper spring removed and still have around 50-60mm left to lower it

So hopefully I'll get the rest of the car done asap

EDIT:- went out and stripped the other side off and got some pics lol

As you can see its got a fair bit of surface rust which I've sprayed with wd-40 and left for a bit then attacked with a wire brush which do come up nice and smoothly spin but just can't get rid of the rusty colour.

I will be refitting them back on the golf for now and on Friday I will pull them off again and paint them black and give the threads a good coat of grease and try to find a wheelbarrow inner tube to cover them up
