right im back as all can see with another non mk3, a lovely (bit plain) classic 84 golf, i bought the car from my friend who won it on ebay for the pricey sum of £200, now as mk2 golf go thats a bloody bargain even if it is a grandad auto, yes its a bit on the slow side because its a 1.6 8v but it does have the added bonus of a factory fit webber carb, anyway me and my m8 went on the train from ipswich to sheerness in kent to go and collect it and when we got there i was pretty amazed as every panel was straight, lowered 40mm already and aftermarket rear lights (booo @ crystal lights), had a quick look over and was pleased to say it was pretty rot free, plenty of paperwork for suff done like sills, wings, services etc etc, and so the deal was done after tellin my friend to rip the guys arm off for the price.
anyway here is a few pics from the ebay add before we got it

so i drove it back to ipswich on £15 of petrol, not bad for just over 100 miles i think and it drove a dream

to cut the story short i was offered to buy it for the price my mate paid for it as he couldnt get a good quote for insurance lol, plonker, who buys a car they cant insure haha, anyway more pics.

i got bored one day and found a can of green glass spray paint

had them like that for a month or so and then someone i know bought a mk2 and gave me an offer i couldnt refuse, a set of teardrop alloys and half smoked M3 style rear lights, all he wanted from me was my 13" steelies for banding and my crazy green rear lights, so i popped up to see him and the swap was done

car went in for MOT the day after and passed with 1 advisory (blowing exhaust) not bad for a 27yr old car me thinks.
plans so far

1, clean up all rust spots, dents ect and probably respray
2, full 4 door gti big bumper kit (arches, skirts, everything)
3, redo all the interior (full black trim, leather seats or reclining buckets for front and retrimmed rears)
4, coilovers
5, full late spec wiring ready for engine upgrade (if its possible to swap over to a late spec)
6, custom grille with slats the whole length
7, engine swap (been given the option to gut everything i need from which ever is best donar by local scrappy) and rebuild before swap
8, chrome detail as much as i can (door lock/catches, wing mirror knobs, door pins)
9, paint engine bay bits ( rocker cover, water bottle, expansion tank ect)
10, sort out my shabby stereo wiring (never had iso plug till i got the car lol) and install to get rid of my pathetic pro-plus box for something better for my 15" sub
11, polybush everything, strut braces all round (upper and lower)

and this is what i want the car to look like (obviously with the teardrop alloys lol)

so, what do you all think

cheers guys, im hoping for mine to look like that, going to buy the small details first like the chrome door and boot latches, door pins and mirror knobs (may change the mirrors to F1 carbon ones, dunno yet), de-wiper it if i can find a bung to fit it, then find a spare set of doors as some tw*t hit y drivers door while breaking into my neighbors mk3 golf when parked next to mine gives me a reason to dehandle the rears and delock the fronts and fit a propper RCL kit

Porn, one of my favourite cars by far, still have bits left over from my 2

dont get me wrong, ive always wanted a mk2 and now ive got one im trying to do as much as possible on a tight budget cos the scene tax on vw stuff at the moment is silly

gonna keep an eye on this, i do like a golf.

It's gonna be a slow and painfull project, the car is straight, better than most anyway really just needs a tidy and few touch ups

As you say scene tax on mk2's is silly now, people paying 6/7/800 for a 1.3 with no MOT on eBay now? My bro was lucky and got a solid 3 door 1.3 for a few hundred sheets, wouldn't mind a white 3dr GTi meself.

Nice car mate, good luck with it, i take it you've removed the pressed plates?

Na still got the german plates on it, funnily enough passed it's MOT with them on and for £200 for the car it was a bargain I couldn't pass up lol, had a call today off a mate asking if I was doing anythin with my harman kardon drive+play iPod control unit which I've used in mist cars I've had but got bored of having to wire it in all the time, so I let him have it along with my 2gb iPod nano (with cracked screen) and in rerun I got these

Can't complain as they are both the same and can build a complete unit out of them, I've been lookin into engine conversions and found I have to rip the loom out to replace it with one from a 90 spec golf with the CE2 fuse box and start looking for a raddo vr6 and transfer everything over, time to sign up to mk2vr6.com for the conversion help lol

must say i will be keeping a keen eye on this too.
i do love a golf had a rat look mk1 a few years back

is that a mk1 breadvan? not seen one of them before, looks sweet.

anyway onto a more serious note, when i went for my mot i was told my brakes needed changing asap, so i went and bought some new discs and pads (pagid) and set to work trying to get the calipers off (very hard work lmao) so a couple of cut fingers and a lot of swearing and plenty of beers to calm the stress i managed to change them all, i didnt get any pics of e working but took one of the state of my pads, and to say im not impressed is an understatement lol

i
m surprised they actually worked lol but they stopped the car like a new set of brakes lol, but now i feel a lot better knowing ive got plenty of happy breaking to be done with the new parts hehe

Don't bother with the vr6 sounds nice but lots of reliability problems and very heavy totally spoils the handling chuck in a 1.8 turbo i am doing a mk1 conversion at the mo and its not really a big job and there are a couple of companies that can sort the loom for reasonable money!

There's alot of vdubs in the area now, just my mates at the unit have a 1.8t mk2, 2.0 16v t45'd mk1, 2.0 mk1 caddy soon to be a g60, 1.6 16v tuned polo, polo gti, and thats just up at my unit

chris astra off here is braking a full corrado vr6 in colchester at the mo.

Another mates just sold his mk2 vr6 and is building a mk1 20v turbo.

Taking up important room in my lock up is a caddy which i have fitted a 1.9 tdi lump to and just needs a few bits to finish and a mint mk1 shell waiting for the turbo engine also have a 1.8 16v engine and box sat about doing nothing! Never owned a vw in my life have been close to it, but a vaux i just can't resist always seems to come up lol

im in need of a ful CE2 wiring loom with everything to convert the golf to late spec, which i think is clocks, stalks etc etc
