Johns - Red Ph1 GSi (UPDATES PG 6&7)

Well I picked her up today, so thought id start my diary straight away.

a little about the car;

its a 1992 Astra GSi 2.0 16v
I am the THIRD OWNER, which is a rare find these days. Car belong to Salford Vauxhall, then bought 2 years old from a gentleman whos had it since.
Its on 117k genuine mileage with all MOTs to prove.
its even got the standard stereo!

The old girl does need some work though. First things first are the rear arches which are shot.
sills have rust too but dont look bad at all. so i'll see about those.

The drive home from rotherham to birmingham was great.
such a nice smooth car - the engine is great. just as smooth as my2003 2.2 astra coupe.
gearbox great, clutch is prety much new
just needs a damn good clean.
needs afew bits.
things ive noticed are:

new thermostat
windscreen washers struggle to work
headlight washers dont work
and the bonnet catch that pokes through the grille isnt there

other than that, shes greta

anyway enough of me...heres the pics

nice one John, glad its got a good new owner who will restore it :) good thread to read is DaveB's on here as he restored his red gsi like what your doing ;)

Washes for the grill its all under the passenger wing in case you get stuck ;)

p.s might wanna update your profile mate (not a 1.4 astra is it lol)

Looks like a good project you got yourself there bud, one question, bonnet catch? your not thinking mk4 are you?

I recently done a guide to upgrading the washer jets to 'mist' type ones, only problem is its in the members section, it could be useful to you.

that clay looks like good gear were can ya get??

lush mate ;)

Three owners, not modded or touched after 17yrs not bad at all. It does look nice shiney, well half :)
