well since further inspecting my mk3 it seems that the arches are one of the last places to wurry about for rust
it seems its just about everywhere, so i shall be going to get new pannels ( any ideas where to get new pannels would be really helpful ) this would mean i would need to respray them back to the current car, but there is no fun in that is there 
colour wise i was thinking on either:
a deep red colour with black interior
white with a white interior
black with a cream interior from a cavvy ( if i can find it)
so what do use think, or use have anyother ideas?
