hi my c18xe astra gsi was showing up fault code 92(camshaft sensor)it ran okay but the other day seemed to be in limp mode but was fine day after?so i bought a new camshaft sensor and have just fitted it and now its in limp mode??any suggestions/advice please

double check your connections, also try disconnecting your battery for 20mins or so, this will reset your ecu and clear any stored codes.

just been outside and double checked to make sure the connector is clipped onto sensor(which it is)and just disconnected battery.

sorted it!!i connected the battery back up and went for a drive and it was still in limp mode but then while i was driving i flicked the ignition off then back off and reved it and its cleared:lol: many thanks:beer:

well thought i had sorted it:redface:i went to work this morning and it was in limp mode but if i flicked the ignition on and off a few times(while driving) and it was okay again but then if i go to start it up later its back in limp mode and engine management lights on till i flick the switch off and on while driving??

flash the code off and see what it is. look at the top of the mechanical section for what to do and search for paperclip test.

how do you flash the code off?i used the sticky for the paper clip test and thats how i found out it was the camshaft sensor

thats what im on about, is it still saying cam shaft sensor? if so sounds like you got a dodgy one, but as its new you shouldnt have a problem getting another from where you brought it. its also worth checking the wiring to the sensor and the connector again for damage or poor conection.

yeah i bought it off ebay a brand new one but it was a spuriouse(sp)one might go get a genuine vauxhall one from somewhere

you could try a cheap working second hand one, would save spending a fortune on a gm one incase it dosent any make difference.
