hi,

As im sure most of you know, my timing belt broke last week.

I had 4 new valves fitted, and the mechanics skimmed head gasket, put new gaskets on everything, and i drove it back 236 miles.

The guy said to take it easy, so i did. I havnt revved it past 3k rpm, and i have been gentle with the throttle.

I opened up the bonnet and now 400 miles on, i saw that there had been some oil sprayed towards the windscreen direction, and it appears to be between the 2 pistons closest to the districutor cap. The inlet manifold is covered in oil. I checked the oil level, and it seems to be above the top notch on the dip stick.

Is this what has caused it? Is slight leakage normal after a head gasket change?

My mates dad said that after 1k miles you are supposed to get the head retightened, is that true?

did you use a new rocker cover gasket? it looks like its leaking from higher up than the head gasket to me.

it looks like rocker cover to me, easy fix, but you need to make sure so I would clean it all off and then run the engine for a few miles and see if you can see it running from anywhere.
