well i picked up my new project today.

it all start out great, parked her in the drive and gave a her a nice clean and most of her is polished untill my dad came and and had a look about her and said she would be worth keepin

the reasons he said this was due to he fact it needed new breaks and the rear axeil has a fair bit of rust on it:o

so any ideas on a rough price on fixing this kind of thing, as i have really fallen for the mk3 now:beer:

i shall get pics up asap

how much you pay for that then

Slap your dad and tell him not to panic the cars not that bad.

Rear beams are ten a penny, and really that ones not that bad nothing a buff of paint cant sort, or as also mentioned its an easy enough swap to a 16v rear beam there are plenty around. Front brakes arent a big deal cheap enough replaced from a factor (theres a group buy on here for pads), or why not take the opportunity to upgrade from the standard front brakes to GSi front brakes (if your replacing discs and pads anyway its cheap enough for 2 calipers).

Give the car a good polish and itll look like new. Does it have an MOT? if not, or if its coming towards the end of its MOT then stick it in and that will let you see what, if anything else it requires.

and the bonnets not mega pad, seen a lot worse.

mhmm slap him  good idea :whoo:

its got 2month left on its MOT, so its going into the garage on monday or tuesday to get a look over and to get it mechanicaly sound.

once i get word back from the mechanic i will (hopefully) start searching for new parts, not to bothered about colour, then get her sprayed.

the car i hope is going to be a few years worth of project.

oh and is it just me or is the clutch mega high

So long as the shell is sound I wouldnt worry to much about other areas, mechanical parts can always be replaced and are cheap enough to do.

Looks okay i guess :D roll on the project

well a am quietly confident i will keep this project on the go for a while.

i de-bumped her today and will de-badge the back tommorrow

and garage next week.

dave, the only real rust is what is shown in the pics, so all i need to find is a cheap bonnet and rear axis and i am happy.

if all goes well during the week(touch wood) a few people shall recive pms
