Hi i have a mk3 1.6 16v ecotec. Its been running a bit sluggish so i got some wynns injector cleaner, after putting it in i went for a drive and when reversing out of the drive noticed the revs were kind of sticking a little. after about a 10 min drive everything seemed fine. parked her up for about 20 mins went out again then after about a min of driving the revs just stopped all together and the engine cut out, and now wont start. It has been damp and foggy, I think it could be crank sensor after reading bits of info, could anyone help PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it would be appreciated thanks.

while youre at it check the plug - lead tips for corrosion and also corrosion on the lead - coil points too

like big e said if the engine management light is on do the paper clip test

see here for that - http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm

another one to look into would be the idle control valve (icv) as from your description it sounds like its struggling to idle this is on the throttle body to the right of the engine bay and looks like this -

this very rarely works but spraying brake cleaner in it should clean it out if its sticking if not a good site to use for quality parts at better prices than vauxhalls is www.autovaux.co.uk

how much have you got to strip to get at this as mines idling rather high some times 1500 to 2000 rpm mate

well if you take off the engine cover you should be able to get to it its just really ****ing awkward mate but its only two torx screws and saves a ton on petrol in the long run

you only need LOTS of carb cleaner to get it cleaned up and working again, had this problem with both the vauxhalls that I owned.

hi mate...just out of intrest since putting that wyns cleaner through its been runnin bad...see i put that stuff in my old astra c14se 1.4 8v and i had no end of problems with it since..to the point i had to get another motor...iv read that stuff can dislodge sediment which can block the injectors or fuel pump..mine runs...but has the power of a dead frog...perhaps check your injectors..or rail...sounds to similar to be coincidence ??
