I was wondering if it was possible to put a 6L V8 Aston Martin engine in a Mark 3 Astra? Any help people? Also, how would introducing nitrous to your car for the first time make it run? Clean, smooth, or would it just fail on you lol?

You're serious???

Well anything can be done given time and patience. The most important thing though, will be money. You're looking at ive figures from the off mate I would say. You will need to transplant as much as possible from the Aston, and last time I checked, most Astons dont have much in common with mk3 Astras... apart from the fact they both have wheels.

If it is something you have to do, like the guy who put a TVR engine in a mk2 golf, then be prepared for a very long struggle...

As for starting a car with NOS I wouldn't suggest it as the components of the engine will be cold and I predict blowing something if you get it wrong.

Why would you start a car with NOS anyway?

itwasntme - with the nitrous i think he means first time the engine has been run on it. should be fine. just go up progressivly with the jets .. start on say 25bhp and go up in 25bhp steps anymore advice on nitorus though try these guys www.vauxsport.com. they know there stuff ;)

as for the engine. with enough time and money am sure a\nything can be made to fit. it wont have been done before so a hell of alot of it would be trial and error mate

 I figured that when I re-read it

Thinking about it more (as monday gives me more of my brain power)...

You would need to modify the bulkhead. Probably chop and drop and all kinds of bits in and out.

Driveshafts. Suspension. Brakes. The lot. By the time its finished it'll probably be more Aston then Vauxhall! That and it'll handle like a c00nt as that 6 litre drags the front end out every time you turn!!

Why not buy an Aston chassis and engine, then just try fitting mk3 panels to it!

Seriously though if you want big block fun, why not try getting the Monaro 5.7 engine from a Corvette shoe-horned in.

Personally the best/biggest engine I would ever put in my mk3 is a Lotus Carlton 3.6 Twin Turbo. (Never gonna happen!)

A LOT of work. Of the top of me head......

- Cut the car to bits and bit a transmission tunnel
- Very possibly need to lengthen the engine bay
- Space frame the whole car...????
- Engine mounts...
- RWD/diff setup out of what car?

Why an Astra?! Probably be easier imho to build a spaceframe, put the engine + running gear all in, and then build the Astra bodywork up around it.

But by doing that, you will spend enough money to buy a second hand Aston...

And the Aston over the Astra is a no brainer. It'll handle better. It'll be soooo comfy inside. You'd be mad to attempt this.

Fair play if you do.

Just don't!

lol, lots of work gonna be involved if that ever happens lol. I'm just thinking for the future when i get into a lot of money. There's this 2.5 V6 Twin Turbo vauxhall cavalier that i'd love to beat but i just need the right engine, and seeing as the Mrk3 is the car i'll be driving, i want a good enough engine for it, in fact, i want a kick ass engine that could literally tear the chassis away from it!

Am I right in saying you're a 16 y/o dreamer?

If we're talking big budgets, then .... twin LET ... 250bhp each, = 500bhp 4wd
Or ..... turbo a V6 - it has been done.

Nah mate, i'm an 18 year old realist lol! With money in my pocket and a car to find and Mod up lol!

Must be some pretty hefty pockets on dem trousers boy!

I'm 18... and how I'd love to be earning like you...

lol... just lol. A Monaro engine sounds like a good choice though with Vauxhall simiarities...

Near enough.

In which case buy two LET's, say £1200 each
Another few grand to get them up to a reliable 250+bhp standard each

That's £4-5k alone. Before you touch the rest of the car, and fitting etc.

If not, iirc there was a Monaro V8 engine which went on ebay for about 6 grand or something too.

And try getting insured on either ;)

Theres a guy on Mig putting an LS2 into a mk4 and he had to take a big chunk out the floor, i'd imagine it would be the same.

How about a 16 litre V12 quad turbo from a CAT Digger? that would fit in the bay no problem.

hmmm - who doubts this will ever happen?

anyone who has to ask if it's possible doesn't have the skill to get it done - coz you wont be able to pay anyone to do it.

No one good enough to actually do it right anyway.

Every now and then someone registers and asks a question like this - wasn't it a pig iron 12litre V8 last time?

Sorry mate - you may have good intentions, but sooner or later you'll realise that it's soooo not worth it. If you've got the money to do this kind of work - buy a better car to start with.

That's what i'd do, in a heart beat, and i LOVE my Astras (on my 3rd).
