just got the van back on the road yesterday, went for a ride today, and when we got back there is oil all over the underside and on the front drivers side wheel. there is no oil near the top of the engine. any ideas what this could be? cheers, chris

could be a number of things, you need to jack the car up and have a good look about, see if you can trace where its coming from.

no, i think its deffo oil. its all over the wheel and side of car. was still dripping out on the drive.

right, ive traced the problem. there is a hole in the pipe in the picture. what is this part called? its the pipe on the left, coming into/out of oil filter.

im guessing this is removed with a socket on the end? does it just thread into a hole?

i was gonna say oil cooler pipes, had same happen to me once

Them nuts you see on the top, 22mm i think. There be tight, get a spanner and hit it with a hammer

anyone got a parts data cd? i really need the part number as it appears there are two types of GM durbo diesel engines. mines the one with the oil filter just behind the drivers side front wheel. cheersa, chris.

went to vaux today. you have to buy the full lenght hose, and it costs....£71!!! i got one from a breakers complete with both hoses plus iol cooler for £40. where does the oil cooler fit? by the radiator at a guess?

****ign hell i was gonna buy new pipes and bolts for my gsi as they look ****ed but ill wait till they leak now lol

and yeah the oil cool sits next to radiator across front valance - tiny fookign thing

£4 for the 8v grub screw and take the oil cooler off.
