well boys how easy is it to strip:gossip: ....

the inside of a 3dr mk3 ph2?

looking at stripping it for sound deading and laying power cables as well as some fiber glass builds:nod:

when stripping the mk3 is there anything to look out for?

any hints and tips are gratefully accepted:redface:

not entirely sure man but theres people on here that have done it themselves. is most of it not just clips, nuts, screws and bolts anyway? give it a try yourself and see how far you get, just don't force anything, thats how i usually end up snapping bits on mine

get started you should have it all out in a couple of hours :thumb:

Yeah don't grab at anything too harshly, I snapped a few clips and fixings on the door card through being impatient.

Other than that just take your time and come back here with any more specific questions :thumb:

not sure on mk3's but i have stripped all my past ovas/corsas out and a heat gun is needed to strip the sound deadening stciky bits. that and a screw driver is ideal

seats door cards etc etc are easy. just make sure you undo all nuts/biolts before pulling at anything so that you dont break it ;)

Where were you when I did mine eh?! :heh:

is there a ton of black tar matting under the carpets? is it neat? i fancy stripping mine for weight (when hillclimbing) but still use it as a road car and dont fancy a nasty mess left on the floor that needs repainting

Mine was painted over when I stripped mine. Depending on the condition of the car it can look good, might need a rub down though

if you heat it up enough it 'should' come right off. its well worth it as it weighs a fair whack

thats IF there is this black stuff in mk3 but am sure there will be

just take your time taking it all off neatly and will be reet, worst comes to worst get some hamerite paint and go over it. hamerite slap it on nice and thick. you wont notice it really :) great weight saving

im guessing theres a load of cables and wiring that will need hiding in some cable ducting or something
