'ETC' light on dash

Traction control mate

Usually muck up on these engines, as its the 1st kind of TC out and tbh its rubbish anyway, ive not had one gsi yet that hasnt always been of or broke lol

if the button is pressed so its off the lights on, if TC is on it goes off from memory.

well that dont really fix it. new ecu if its that thats knackered or prob a sensor.

When you start the ignition the ETC should self test for a few seconds so the bulb will be lit. After the self test the light should go out by default.

The TC is then active and be ready to do its stuff if needed. If you want to over-ride the system (ie allow the wheels to spin) you press the button and the light will be on.

Check out TopBuzz as you should be able to paper-clip the ABC/TC ECU.

The connector on the TC motor causes most faults, especialy in damp weather.

As above though, its a crap system

mine was a right pain in the bum,it would kick in even if wheels werent spinning and kill the power,it basically controls a butterfly valve on throttle body and shuts it when wheels spin,i disconected the linkage from control soleniod so it cant ruin my fun anymore!!
