can i use a test light to check ecu flashes by bridging the top pins on ecu plug in fuse box,my ecu bulb was removed by previos owner.any help would be great.cheers
yeh i know, its a pain taking the clocks out.bought the car in bad shape .have been putting it right since i got it.im a truck mechanic so ecu and electronics baffle me!!
a mate said you can do it using a test lamp into the ecu plug in fuse box,
bassically putting it where you put the paper clip in to read flashes,it just flashes the testlamp instead of bulb
hmm, you could try it. not entirely sure it would work, but worth a go I suppose. Im just not sire if the signal impulses at the bridge though. Let me know if it works
On second thoughts, Im thinking it might not work, because the bulb is missing there is no closed circuit. But give it a try anyway.
2 in the steering wheel cowling front
3 in the lower half of the cowling
2 in the top of the clock cowling
2 at the bottom of the clock cowling
1 at the top of the clock
I think LOL - been ages since i did this
If you only have 5 then it must rattle like a jar of nuts in your car lol
tried trick with test lamp ,doesnt work, will take clocks out tomorow and
keep you guys posted, this is just one small problem i hav uncoverd since
i bought it.the fuel tank had been fibreglassed, the gearbox blew up,head gasket went, timing belt went and took 8 valves not to mention the rear arches!!
yeah, sadly enough, there is often a reason for the bulb to be removed !
I had this on my GSI too ... bulb missing, replaced it, and woo hoo, nice little orange light in the car !! Damned blagging chavs that do this should have enough backbone to mention there is a problem with the car when they sell it , but NOOOOO , take the bulb out and flog the motor as A1 condition ... ********s.
PS, can you see this is a soft spot for me !! I sooo hate blagging conning gits !!
