Coolant temp sensor question

Im looking at replacing the cts on my ph1 gsi and also the sender as well as they are both covered in corrosion.

The cts on mine is black and the plug from the loom is blue but when looking on various sites I keep seeing blue temp sensors listed, are they the same or do I need the 1 with the black plug?

You will need to put a black one back in, iirc the black ones are for cars fitted with aircon..

My car doesn't have aircon so would it be ok to fit a blue 1 instead? Previous owner must have fitted a black cts by mistake.

Regarding the type of coolant temp sensor. There are several MK3 Astra types of sensor version, depending on engine/options type. Find out the Vauxhall part number for your specific car/options (either from enquiring at a main dealer or from somebody who has the Vaux Electronic Parts System). From the part number, you will find the sensor temperature switching range and its physical size. Then have a look on Ebay and online parts sellers for availability and price. I wouldn't worry about the colour of any sensor - it could be an aftermarket type that is already fitted, so colour would be an irrelevance.

I could be wrong with the aircon bit but if it runs fine and has a black one in fit a new black one back in, i do remember some one asking about this a fair while ago as they had replaced a black one with a blue one and started having running issues..
