Well we had sent the car in for a new oil pump after the original one failed and they said that they had a genuine second hand GM pump in their store room which they said was not used for very long so we thought, ok lets have that one then.
We got it back home and finished everything off before starting it up the next day. We started it up the next day and sounded lovely, no tapping or anything so things were going great. Then we started it up later in the day and we can hear tapping again. Opened the oil cap and nothing was getting to the upper cams again so we are assuming that the pump has failed again and could be faulty so now we have had to take it to the garage again to get em to look at it. Because we think its faulty, we feel that its their problem to sort out. Another thing, once we had got everything put back together and got the oil put in, we took it for a spin up the road and we got told that there was blue smoke blowing out the back, would that have something to do with the lamda sensor? which we had to replace anyway coz it snapped. A few days later after it started tapping again, we checked the oil level and it was on low so we thought that could be something to do with the tapping so we topped it up and it still tapped so had to go garage to get it sorted. Would there be any advice anyone could give us?

There might be a blockage some where in the oil line, and id replace the gearing in the oil pump with sbd gears as there better,

we had cleaned the pick up pipe when it happened the first time. we will ask if the gearing is ok when we go garage again

unfortunatly mate Thats What happens when you go for the cuttin corners cheap options. Chances are its not a genuine pump or it may be. Either way either the pressure relief valve is stuck open or the gear has broken up. The only way to sort it mate is genuine new pump. I find it hard to believe your oil galleries are blocked

also the blue smoke wont be the lambda sensor its the engine burning oil.

i saw the pump for myself, it had a genuine GM number on it and GM Logo and the pick up pipe was very much cleared out. well, we will find out soon whats up with it and we shouldnt have to pay for it again because they told us the pump was fine to use but obviously it wernt so it will be the garages problem to sort out. what can be causing the oil to burn so quick? it went through a good few litres in no time what so ever:sad:

a few litres of oil in a few minuites is pretty serious, and im sure not possible! u sure its not pouring out the bottom of the car lol

we checked for leaks around the gaskets and its all dry and there was nothing on the floor at all. we had only took it round the block
do you think it could be valve seals? Its wierd how we were told that the engine had a rebuild before we had got hold of it and its just caused us nothing but problems
