Hi guys i recently rebuit a calibra for my mate the full work but its still the standard lump a redtop im getting pi..ed off all the time now coz he keeps blowing me in it and i was originally gona buy it for a donor car for the lump anyways i only got a 2.0 8v 94 model mpi. is there any ways i could make it blow him only catch is i havent got a lot to spend at the moment so bit short on choices but i think his cally is pushing aroundthe 150 bhp not sure wot mine would be its srandard and de catted any ideas guys would be greatful

my mate had a MK2 SXi that had some work done, Kent Cam, ported & polished etc etc, exhaust system.

Went like stink.

Not sure if its an XE beater though.

the 2.0 8 valves are bullet proof, i think the slightly earlier version had more power, someone else will tell u that, but they do respond well to tuning, it was common at one time to turbocharge them! still you be hard pushed to beat a redtop with out a turbo!

Ive Got A Spare 2.0.8v Just Coverd Up On The Drive I Ad It From An M Plate Cavvy Wiv 110k On The Clock It Sounded A Minter Tho And Was For Free So I Could Work On That One And Then Swap Them Over Saves Me Being With Out A Car For So Long do you think i should fit some new pistons can i av it bored out if so any ideas how much in cc? Also I Got A V Grill I Wanted To Fit But Ive Been Told I Av To Change The Lights To As Mine Is A Phase 1 Whats This All About ?

yes it true dude, the V grill is phase 2 and if your cars a phase 1 then the lights will have to be changed or the grill wont sit right....

if you have a spare engine, rebuilt it and make it new again... upgrade all the internals and make her a muster.... nice little project there....

early sri cally 2.0 8v was 130bhp later ones were 113bhp iirc and I think its the later 1's they put in astras, my old astra sri was 113 on a k plate (cant remember the year ) if that helps.

i know there was a courtney turboed 2ltr 8v forsale i think on here or mig not sure that was going for like 400 quid i thinks saw a turbotechnics one on ebay got for 500 quid just wanted to let u know

i had a 2.0l 8v (SER) in my mk2 astra with an F20 gearbox and i could blow off my mate with his red top and i could keep up with my mates GSI up to 140mph and all i had done was a viper in duction kit and a full sportex exhaust system, so soz all you 16v nuts the 8v aint that sluggish.

there is a kit you can buy but it aint cheap mate, if you use the later 8v from a calibra its low compression engine and a turbo kit like this can be put straight on with a frontera or similar intercooler....

if you flick back a couple total vauxhall mags my mates from ireland where on a rollin road with turbo'd 8v and they where seein 200bhp. and they both used the 113bhp engines so turbo the 8v you wont be dissapointed.
