hi all iv just got my self a 20l dti mk4 astra but it has troble starting but wen it gets goin for a couple of minutes it will fire first time its just when engine is cold iv changed heater plugs and its still the same could anybody give me a idea what the problem is thanks.

I believe all the DTI engines have hydraulic valve lifters, so it's not likely to be a valve clearance problem. Tried the basics such as fuel filter?
The problems i have normaly seen with them is the fuel injector leak off pipes or injector seals leaking and not holding pressure from the pump to the injectors once started all ok for hours until the pressure slowly drops off ie over night the leak off pipes are easy job to change and only cheep for the pipe best to do a vac test from the return pipe / rubber pipe from pump to injectors to see if they hold pressure if not there`s your problem hope this helps daz
not tried this yet iv got a full service kit for her so will be doin this sat
never heard of this i will haveto give this a go have you got a part num for them as il get it tested and go from there

The rubber pipe can be bought from any motorfactors mate just cut it to size and reuse the t pieces should be no more than £10 hope that helps mate
