will this fail mot?? whats wrong with them??

how much will that set me back??

take it this really isn't safe then!

would you be driving this out and about?!? im supposed to be doing a trip to london stansted on thursday morning.

Also, my car is booked in for its mot on the 16th! so gonna have to get it fixed before then i think!!

personaly i wouldnt drive it far like that mate. all it neads is for that rip to come all the way round and the top of the strut will no longer be joined to the car!

they arnt too hard to change but they do need you to take the strut off the car

i tried a couple of times to get the struts off but just couldnt do it! how much you reckon the garage will charge me to fit some new top mounts? they charged me £40 to put the front lowering springs on!

if its the same garage then should be the same price.

the method for changing top mounts is the same as changing springs, you just change a different part once the strut is apart

yeah thats what i thought! cheers jordan

gonna get those parts ordered now!

thats a good price you got for fitting the springs. fyi - My wishbone did the same thing to your top. It wasnt that old an was a cheap crappy part. If you want the top rubber to last a few years then I would suggest an original GM part (think they are around 60GBP each though!). Cheaper ones I have known die shortly after a year

i would only use gm parts for this because as said above cheap ones will only last a short time but the gm ones will survive a couple of years

yeah but the ones ive had are still mint after 8 months and cost £12each, even if i do only get ayear its still as lot cheaper than paying £120 every two years. by the time they next need doing tom will be ablt to take the leg off himself so no more garage bills

i,ve just phoned him and i,ve got to change it tomorrow

Sounds like your doing well. I had some cheap ones on my 1.4 ls (standard suspension) and they got the car through 1 test only! (yes , the suspension tops bearings were fine)
